Marathon Day with Amazon UK

In June 2025, Link UP London and Amazon UK completed a Marathon Day engagement.

At this full day event, 16 Amazon employees – primarily marketing and comms colleagues volunteered a day to assist 5 London charities with marketing strategy, social media, audience mapping, campaign development, and stakeholder management.

For each Marathon Day event, Link UP works to carefully match each volunteer based on their skills and interests to a specific charity, on a detailed brief suited to a full-day format.

Across five hours, charities became better armed to tackle their challenges, and Amazon made a meaningful contribution to community causes via the skills of its employee volunteers.

100% of the charities who participated were highly satisfied with the event, 100% found their Amazon volunteers interested and engaged, and 100% found their volunteers to be a good fit for their requirements.

Here’s what charity participants had to say:

“So wonderful to have the luxury of a whole day event. This helped me embed insights and solutions discussed earlier in the session, revisit key sticking points, and gain greater clarity about where I need to prioritise my time and energy. I left with simple, time effective and actionable solutions to my challenges.”

100% of Amazon volunteers were highly satisfied with the event; 100% felt their charity match made good use of their skills; 93% felt the conversation really mattered to the charity and 93% felt happier or more purposeful in general after the event.

One volunteer said of the event:

‘‘Fantastic experience. It was great to do something meaningful with the skills I’ve learnt through work. A great test of my abilities and understanding of my own skills; you really have to tailor your approach, which was refreshing.’’

What is a Marathon Day?

A Marathon Day is one of Social Impact Solutions’ most high-impact engagement formats. A one day, five-hour ‘advice session’, it brings skilled volunteers together in small groups to work with a pre-matched charitable organisation on a defined brief. The format allows volunteers to pitch in and contribute to the issues that matter most to the charity across several structured sessions, culminating in tangible action plans to take away from the day.
