Data Analysis: Impact Survey
The aim of Neighbourhood Watch is to bring neighbours together to create strong, friendly, active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen. Their vision is that of a caring society that is focused on trust and respect in which people are safe from crime and enjoy a good quality of life. Neighbourhood Watch is about making sure that fewer people feel afraid, vulnerable or isolated in the place where they live.
Total length of project: 30 hours over 6 weeks
The Neighbourhood Watch are in need of a volunteer to conduct detailed analysis of data received from over 32,000 members of the public in response to a survey conducted across England and Wales, exploring issues of crime perception and victimisation and perception of community efficacy, cohesion and neighbourliness, including experiences of loneliness and isolation. The aim of the project is to identify, from the data available, whether membership of Neighbourhood Watch and the activity of Neighbourhood Watch coordinators has an impact on people's experience and perception of crime, feelings of safety and their perception of their community. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to conduct data driven research to explore whether people's perception of their community has an impact on their experience and perception of crime.
