Who we are looking for: We are looking for a Skilled Volunteer with process design experience who is comfortable working with web apps. Experience with WordPress and setting up website plug-ins is desirable but not essential.

Project brief: Citizens Advice Wandsworth are looking to create a chatbot that will help website visitors navigate online advice resources and find the information they need to resolve their issues, allowing the organisation to help more people and reduce demand for their services. For this project, they would like to use Landbot (landbot.io), a no-code platform that lets you build chatbots through a simple drag-and-drop interface, as well as existing information resources from their website. This project builds on work by Citizens Advice Liverpool, who have a chatbot live on their website and have conducted user research that the volunteer will have access to.

As well as designing and deploying the chatbot, Citizens Advice Wandsworth want to make it easy for other Citizens Advice offices to do the same thing. The volunteer will also produce a set of documentation and guidance that can be used by and promoted to the 250+ organizations in their network. If this project is successful, it could be taken up by their national office, whose online self-help resources had over 58 million views in 2021-22.

Who you’ll be supporting: Citizen’s Advice Wandsworth provides free, confidential, and impartial advice about a range of social welfare issues, including debt, benefits, housing and employment. They’re an independent charity that works as part of the Citizens Advice network, and as a local organisation prioritise partnership development, community engagement and innovation.
