Who we’re looking for: We’re looking for a volunteer with experience in technology, product design or software procurement.
Project brief: For this role, Buddies for All would like a volunteer to offer advice and possibly develop an app and CRM system so that a disabled person has full choice and control of who they buddy up with. This would then lead to research into an app build for Buddies for All or finding the best way to do this
The disabled person and the person they are buddying up with both need to see each other’s profile and have the ability to accept or decline who they buddy up with. Essentially the disabled person needs to have full control of who they pair up with. They should have the ability to accept or reject the non-disabled buddy or another disabled buddy. The non-disabled person can also reject a disabled buddy but the app must be based on a disabled person’s first approach.
Who you’ll be supporting: Buddies for All aims to support disabled people to overcome social isolation in London. They do this by offering online, telephone and face-to-face buddying support. The name Buddies for All means that both disabled people and non-disabled people can come together to support each other. A disabled person can be supported by a non-disabled person, likewise a non-disabled person can be supported by a disabled person. Most importantly Buddies for All strives to offer peer-to-peer buddying meaning disabled people are able to offer support and advice to each other on the phone, via video or face-to-face.
Please Note: All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. The time commitment above will be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
