Duration

Who We Are Looking For:

The Creighton Centre is seeking a Skilled Volunteer to develop a clear and persuasive business case for the refurbishment of its long-standing community building. The ideal candidate will have experience in business case development, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.

Project Brief:

The Creighton Centre’s building has been a local hub for over a century but is now in need of major refurbishment to improve accessibility, appeal and functionality. Initial architect design plans exist, planning permission has been secured and costings agreed, but the Centre needs a structured business case that outlines the project’s need, feasibility and funding options. This plan should help trustees and stakeholders understand both the urgency and opportunity of the refurbishment, exploring available options to raise funds.
The Skilled Volunteer will help:
  • Review existing plans and service needs to articulate the case for refurbishment.
  • Develop a concise business case including needs analysis, funding options available – including the selling of the charity’s other assets – and implementation roadmap.
  • Advise on project logistics, such as phasing and maintaining service delivery during works.
  • Create a presentation or summary for trustees and stakeholders. Ideally attending a Trustee strategy planning day to discuss options and recommendations in January.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

The Creighton Centre is a West London charity founded in 1908. It supports older people, adults with learning disabilities, and families with young children, working to tackle social isolation and disadvantage through practical support services and community connection.

Your Impact:

By developing a strong business case, the Skilled Volunteer will enable The Creighton Centre to plan for a transformative refurbishment. Refurbishing its historic building will help ensure its services remain accessible, welcoming and fit for future generations, strengthening its role as a vital community hub in Hammersmith & Fulham.

Please note:
This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 4 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
