Who We Are Looking For:

Rising Ohana’s CIC is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in communications strategy to review their current approach, develop a clear and actionable strategy, and build the internal capacity of the team to implement it independently.

Project Brief:

Rising Ohana’s CIC has established a growing presence across social media and digital channels, and regularly delivers workshops and programmes across South East London. To reach more of the families and young people who need their services, they are looking to develop a more strategic and coordinated approach to communications — one that increases visibility, strengthens their brand, and ensures the right people know how and where to access their services.
The Skilled Volunteer will:
  • Develop a communications strategy that includes audience analysis, key messaging, and identification of the most effective channels to raise awareness among key stakeholders.
  • Advise on targeted outreach methods to increase referrals, partnerships, and commissioned opportunities.
  • Provide guidance, tools, and resources that enable the team to implement the strategy independently and sustain its impact beyond the project.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

Rising Ohana’s CIC is a South London-based community interest company dedicated to creating safe, empowering spaces for vulnerable young people, families, and individuals with complex needs. Their mission is to deliver trauma-informed care, holistic assessments, and tailored support that fosters healing, growth, and long-term resilience. They aim to fill the service gap for those who often fall through traditional pathways, including young people and families with learning difficulties, mental health challenges, SEMH, trauma backgrounds, and substance misuse.

Your Impact:

This project will directly increase the reach of Rising Ohana’s CIC, enabling more vulnerable parents, young people, and families to find and access the specialist support they need. By strengthening the organisation’s communications, the Skilled Volunteer’s contribution will help ensure that those who most often fall through the gaps of traditional services can access the compassionate, tailored care that Rising Ohana’s CIC provides.

Please note: This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
