Who We Are Looking For:

Waterloo Community Counselling is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in Communications & Marketing Strategy to help them reach a broader base of higher-paying clients, strengthening the sustainability of their low-cost counselling services. The ideal candidate will have experience developing marketing strategies, reviewing and refreshing brand messaging, and advising on multi-channel outreach (web, social media, email and print).

Project Brief:

Waterloo Community Counselling offers counselling on a sliding scale, with most clients currently paying the base rate per session. To sustain and grow their offer, they want to reach more clients able to pay in a reasonably higher range, and are looking for support to bring their existing research and ideas together into a single, coherent strategy.

The Skilled Volunteer will:

  • Review current marketing and communications to identify gaps and untapped audiences
  • Help develop and structure a clear, actionable marketing strategy targeted at the identified audience
  • Support WCC staff to implement the strategy through guidance and practical advice

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

Waterloo Community Counselling has been delivering accessible, low-cost talking therapy to Londoners since the 1990s, with a mission to remove the barriers – financial, cultural and linguistic – that prevent people from getting the mental health support they need. Last year alone, they provided over 6500 hours of counselling to 594 people, including a unique mother-tongue counselling service for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers delivered in 23 different languages.

Your Impact:

By helping Waterloo Community Counselling reach higher-paying clients, you will strengthen the financial foundation that allows the service to keep supporting people who couldn’t otherwise afford therapy – including survivors of trauma, abuse and exile seeking help in their own language. In time, this project could help open the doors of life-changing counselling to even more Londoners in need.

Please note: This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
