Who We Are Looking For:

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in information management (especially Google Workspace) to help them migrate resources onto a new workspace and design a clear, easy-to-use system for organising and sharing information across their volunteer team.

Project Brief:

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees currently manages a wide range of documents, from policies and meeting minutes to volunteer resources, but much of this information is spread across email inboxes, an outdated workspace, and individual volunteers’ memories. As a result, it can be difficult for the team to locate what they need or for new volunteers to get up to speed quickly. The organisation is looking for support to consolidate and structure this information more effectively within their existing Google Workspace platform.

The Skilled Volunteer will:

• Help migrate information and resources from the old workspace to the new Google Workspace.
• Design a clear, consistent structure and guidelines for the workspace, including access permissions and naming conventions, that are easy for volunteers to navigate.
• Develop simple information-sharing practices, such as shared contact lists and mailing lists, to reduce reliance on email.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees is a volunteer-led charity that has been building a more welcoming Wandsworth for people seeking sanctuary since 2016, as part of the national City of Sanctuary network. They help local organisations achieve Sanctuary status, run community events such as Refugee Week, and collect donations of items like digital devices and bicycles for distribution, giving refugees and asylum seekers practical support and a genuine sense of belonging in their new community.

Your Impact:

By helping Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees build a more organised and accessible way of working, this project will free up volunteer time and reduce confusion, allowing the charity to onboard and retain more volunteers and respond more efficiently to requests. In turn, this will strengthen their ability to support local organisations in becoming places of sanctuary, helping to create more welcoming spaces across the borough for refugees and asylum seekers rebuilding their lives.

Please note: This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
