Who We Are Looking For:

Plateful Café is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in business plan development, ideally with experience in budgeting and cashflow forecasting, to help the charity complete its three-year strategic business plan.

Project Brief:

Plateful Café currently operates from a shared kitchen three days a week and are struggling with resourcing as a predominantly volunteer lead charity. They are looking to develop a complete three-year business plan to guide their next phase of growth. Work on the plan began previously but stalled without dedicated expertise for the budgeting and forecast sections, and the charity is now seeking a Skilled Volunteer to help finish the document and turn it into a usable framework for the whole team.

The Skilled Volunteer will
  • Conduct a review of the organisation, identifying key priorities and opportunities to inform the business plan.
  • Develop the business plan, outlining organisational strategy and financial forecasts for the next three years.
  • Develop an implementation plan so the business plan can be followed throughout the organisation and used to secure future funding.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

Plateful Café is a refugee-led charity based in South East London, where refugees are represented at every level of the organisation, from trustees to chefs. Founded by Iolanda Chirico, the charity connects refugees and local people through food, while equipping refugees with the skills and confidence to enter the UK’s workforce.

Your Impact:

By helping Plateful Café finish its business plan, you will give the charity the clear, structured document it needs to secure funding and plan its growth with confidence — meaning more refugees can access the training, employment, and community connection that helps them rebuild their lives in the UK.

Please note: This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the organisation they are supporting.
