Who We Are Looking For:

The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with experience in social media strategy and public relations to enhance visibility and engagement around upcoming events. The aim is to increase attendance and attract influential contributors within the creative industries.

Project Brief:

The New Black Film Collective is preparing for two pivotal events in 2026 that are central to its mission of championing Black-led film, television and media. To support the success of these events, TNBFC is seeking a Skilled Volunteer to provide targeted social media and PR support—with the goal of, boosting attendance, and securing strategic media coverage.

This support will be instrumental in promoting TX26—TNBFC’s landmark annual symposium—and a second major industry event. The project will include:
  • Refining their existing marketing plan, offering improvements based on previous campaign approaches to increase reach and effectiveness across events.
  • Developing impactful social media strategies to build awareness and engage both key industry stakeholders and wider audiences.
  • Advising on targeted outreach to press, media outlets, and influencers to secure meaningful coverage.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) is a social enterprise, established in 2013 by a network of Black-led organisations including Black Film Festival Wales, Screen Nation, Black History Studies, and others. Through events such as TNB XPO, community screenings, education programmes, and partnerships, TNBFC continues to open doors for Black creatives, ensuring that opportunities in film and television are accessible, equitable, and impactful.

Please note: This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
