Research and Parliamentary Advice

Who we are looking for: We are looking for a Skilled Volunteer familiar with the criminal justice system or government procedures.

Project brief: The Josh Hanson’s Trust are pushing for Josh’s Law to be brought into law in the UK. Josh’s Law is a proposal stating that all victims and perpetrators at the point of sentencing should be informed of their right to appeal the sentence. They believe this is not made clear enough to those during the process, particularly to victims. They would like a Skilled Volunteer to come in to support them with expanding upon their existing research which highlights the need for parliamentary change, to provide advice and an understanding of timelines for taking this through the parliamentary process, and finally assist in producing an advice/advocacy document for the Josh Hanson Trust website.

Who you’ll be supporting: The Josh Hanson Trust supports victims of violent crime through art therapy, workshops and offering advice on victims’ rights. They aim to save lives and to help create a fairer, more compassionate society.

All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. The time commitment above will be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting. This could range from a few days to a few months.
