User Research Design

Welcare’s services are strongest when shaped by the people who use them, and the charity wants to increase both the amount and the range of input it receives from service users to inform its work. Welcare has already scoped out the need, identified the value this feedback can bring, and outlined its preferred approach; what’s needed now is a Skilled Volunteer to help turn this into a practical, well-organised research process, working alongside a separate volunteer who will carry out the interviews themselves.

• Design a user research questionnaire to capture meaningful, relevant feedback from families
• Build an outreach method to recruit interviewees, plus an according interview timeline for the interviewing volunteer to follow
• Collect and collate the resulting interview data into a clear, usable format

Southwark Diocesan Welcare is a family support charity working with parents and children up to the age of 13 across South London and East Surrey, offering practical and emotional support, one-to-one work, and group programmes to help families overcome challenges and give children secure, confident childhoods. Recently, Welcare directly supported over 650 children and families, with hundreds more reached through its group work and activities – a testament to the breadth and depth of its work.
