Who We Are Looking For:

We Are Here is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with expertise in branding and visual identity design to develop a professional and cohesive style  that captures its mission and values.

Project Brief:

We Are Here is at a pivotal stage, preparing to launch its Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in early 2026 — an offline-accessible map connecting people facing homelessness with nearby shelters, food banks, and other vital services. The initiative has gained traction with partners such as Crisis, WCIT, and the Mayor of London’s office, but its current visual branding was created internally and lacks the professional quality needed to engage confidently with funders, partners, and users.

The Skilled Volunteer will:
  • Design a versatile logo that reflects the organisation’s human-centred mission.
  • Develop a cohesive visual identity system (colour palette, typography, and usage guidelines).
  • Provide practical guidance for applying the new branding across future communications.
  • Deliver all assets in ready-to-use formats.

Who You’ll Be Supporting:

We Are Here is a UK-based initiative using technology to tackle homelessness and social exclusion. Its mission is simple yet transformative: to connect help, restore dignity, and make the invisible visible. Thousands of people in the UK are experiencing or at risk of homelessness but struggle to access support simply because they can’t find it. We Are Here is building a digital map that works offline, helping people locate nearby essentials without needing mobile data. A real-time dashboard allows grassroots services to coordinate and update information, while anonymised insights inform smarter policymaking rooted in lived experience.

Your Impact:

By shaping a professional visual identity, the Skilled Volunteer will help We Are Here build credibility with funders, inspire confidence among partners, and reach more people in need. Their work will ensure the organisation’s message — that everyone should be able to find help with dignity — is communicated clearly and powerfully across every platform.

Please note:
This project has an estimated time commitment of 2 hours per week for 3 months, totalling around 24 hours. All Link UP London Skilled Volunteering Projects are designed to work flexibly around the schedule of the Skilled Volunteer. This time commitment can be agreed and spread over a time frame that works for both the Skilled Volunteer and the SGO they are supporting.
