Data analyst uses survey results to highlight impact

Neighbourhood Watch brings neighbours together to create strong, friendly, active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen. Their vision is that of a caring society that is focused on trust and respect in which people are safe from crime and enjoy a good quality of life. Neighbourhood Watch is about making sure that fewer people feel afraid, vulnerable or isolated in the place where they live.

“Supporting the Neighbourhood Watch on this project was great fun! I loved being able to directly support a community project with my professional skills. ”
Xavier, Link UP Volunteer

The Problem

Following a nation-wide survey, having more the 32,000 responses, Neighbourhood Watch were keen to identify whether membership of Neighbourhood Watch and the activity of Neighbourhood Watch coordinators has an impact on people’s experience and perception of crime, feelings of safety and their perception of their community. Without the skills in house to know even where to start with the data, the organisation got in touch with Link UP.

The Solution

Neighbourhood Watch were linked up with data analysis expert, Xavier, who supported in helping to understand the results of the survey, revealing trends on the organisations impact in the community. The analytics also gave an insight into the effects of the Neighbourhood Watch per region across the UK.

The Result

Being matched with Xavier meant that Neighbourhood Watch were able to evidence their impact in the community, in addition to acting as a benchmark for future development and access to funding. It has meant that the Neighbourhood Watch can confidently speak about the real difference they are making across the UK.

“We are so grateful for the friendly, professional and very effective support that Link UP London have given to our charity. As a small team we really benefitted from the expertise that the volunteer brought to us and he was a joy to work with – nothing was too much trouble and the results he delivered have taken us so far forward in a very short period of time. Thank you so much.”
