Empowering The Brun Bear Foundation – Skilled Volunteer Helen advises on boosting book promotion

Branding and marketing expert, Helen Hellebo, joined forces with Edwin, the founder of The Brun Bear Foundation, to boost its marketing and book promotion efforts, domestically and internationally.

About The Brun Bear Foundation

The Brun Bear Foundation is a grant making charity that supports community enrichment in South East London, medical innovation for children worldwide, and the protection of bears and wildlife. It fundraises through an eclectic mix of books and educational services, events, dining and adventures.

The Project

The Brun Bear Foundation has written and self-published two children’s books. The organisation requested assistance with enhancing its marketing efforts and boosting their book sales. The Link UP Skilled Volunteer Project involved undertaking audience and market analysis, making a list of potential partners for promotion, and advice on book promotion and promotional materials.

The Skilled Volunteer

Helen, with over 16 years of sales and marketing experience in publishing at DK and Penguin Random House proved to be the ideal collaborator for Edwin, founder of The Brun Bear Foundation. They worked together concentrating on formulating a Sales Presentation Document, focus group feedback, compiling a list of London-based literary agents accepting children’s book submissions, as well as major festivals and conventions to attend for networking purposes.

The Result

Helen, with her rich publishing background, brought a fresh outlook. She suggested creative marketing approaches and ways to collaborate with publishers for better sales. The suggestions have the potential to boost The Brun Bear Foundation’s product sales, generating extra funds for their charitable goals.

The project was a success, offering valuable insights into the book publishing world. It was a win-win for both the charity and our skilled volunteer.

Edwin commented  “The Brun Bear Foundation is immensely grateful for the support and expertise provided by Helen Hellebo through the LinkUp Skilled Volunteer Project. Her insights and suggestions have provided us with a clearer direction for our marketing efforts and have opened up new possibilities for collaborations within the publishing industry.”

Helen says: “I cannot recommend Link Up London highly enough. Interesting projects with interesting people if you have a few hours to spare here and there.”
