Link UP London’s Skilled Volunteer, Shikha, worked with CREW Energy to enhance their HR processes, developing a robust onboarding and contracting system for the organisation. This project demonstrates the value of skilled volunteering and its impact on strengthening an organisation’s internal operations.
About CREW Energy
CREW Energy is a community energy group based in South-West London. The organisation focuses on making communities more resilient and sustainable by working with local civic buildings, businesses and individuals to reduce their carbon footprints. CREW Energy particularly helps communities become more energy efficient, offering energy-saving and renewable solutions to reduce costs and support a greener future.
The Project
CREW Energy approached Link UP London for help in developing a more professional and scalable system for onboarding staff and contracting freelancers. The organisation wanted to streamline their HR processes to support the growing team while ensuring a strong, structured approach to managing staff.
The Skilled Volunteer
Shikha Saurabh Kumar, an experienced HR professional, brought her expertise to the project. She worked with CREW Energy to develop a set of comprehensive documents for contracts and onboarding, improving internal communication and providing a solid foundation for future team growth.
The Result
Shikha’s contributions helped CREW Energy implement a more professional framework for onboarding new staff and contracting freelancers. These documents are now part of the organisation’s standard operating procedures, allowing the team to focus more on their mission of creating a more sustainable future for their community.
Shikha reflected: “I’m glad I could add value to the project, adding to the Employee Handbook was outside of the signed project but it was a fun experience, and I’m happy to have contributed to something meaningful.”
CREW Energy’s HR processes have been significantly improved, giving the organisation the tools it needs to grow and continue delivering energy-saving solutions to its community.
Steve Jones from CREW Energy said: “Link UP London provided an expert volunteer who significantly enhanced our HR processes, and we are grateful for their support.”
Thanks to this collaboration, CREW Energy now has a streamlined system that will help them continue to grow and make a lasting impact in South-West London.
