Transformative Website Audit and Development Brief: Skilled Volunteer Supports Five Aside Theatre’s Digital Overhaul

Skilled volunteer Naomi and Mic from Five Aside Theatre have teamed up to give the charity’s website a fresh start! Naomi crafted a detailed web development brief to relaunch the site, aiming to boost its impact and reach.

Link UP London Skilled Volunteer Naomi conducted a transformative website audit for Five Aside Theatre. Naomi, an experienced volunteer, has contributed to several projects over the years. This website audit demonstrates the power of skilled volunteering and the huge difference a fresh website can make for an organisation.

About Five ASide

Five ASide Theatre partners with charities, arts organisations and community organisations in devising performances of imminent importance to their communities. Five ASide Theatre work with and train emerging artists, community theatre performers and workshop leaders. They also run school holiday camps for free school meals and pupil premium students.

The Project

Mic from Five ASide reached out to Link UP needing a skilled volunteer to help advise and develop a plan to launch a new website. Mic needed someone with a good understanding of not only marketing and business but of website design and development. The key aims of this new website would be to encourage audiences to buy tickets to productions, inspire communities to contribute stories, photographs for productions, prompt donations and educate users about marginalised communities.

The Skilled Volunteer

Enter Naomi Wilkinson, a top marketing and communications expert with a solid track record in digital transformation and brand development. With extensive experience in creating successful, multi-channel campaigns for leading brands and her previous experience working with charities, Naomi was the perfect choice to help Five Aside Theatre create the brief for their website redesign.

The Result

Naomi reviewed the current website, analysed competitors, and provided a detailed brief that outlined the creative and technical requirements of the new site. . She guided Mic through the process, helping Five Aside Theatre understand the needed changes. The revamped website will help the organisation better support the community, attract more funders and donors, and draw in more workshop participants and ticket buyers.

Mic said of working with Naomi: “Naomi was extremely professional. We now have a comprehensive analysis of our present website, a site map, colour and font design and a comprehensive brief for a professional developer.”

Naomi says: “It was a pleasure to support Five Aside Theatre with the creation of a comprehensive web development brief. After undertaking competitive analysis of other community theatre websites and the Five Aside Theatre site, and sharing this insight with Mic, I was able to write the web development brief. During the process, we agreed a new brand font and brand colours that will be used on the new site. The final brief and the competitive analysis is ready for any developer and designer to run with, to create an engaging new website that communicates what the brand offers, its social impact and how people can donate. It was great to be able to use my skills in this area to support a community interest group.”

Following the completion of this Skilled Volunteering Project Mic has been in contact with some website developers to get a quote to design and develop the new website using Naomi’s brief.

Mic commented “Link up has a unique gift of attracting the most exceptional professionals to aid the charity sector!”

When the skilled volunteer is happy, and the organisation is happy that’s a clear win-win! Naomi is ready to get involved in another project and Mic is on a way to launching his newly designed and functional website!
