The Carnegie Community Trust was set up with support from Lambeth Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund to run the Carnegie Library building in Herne Hill for the benefit of the community. The library, now located in one room, is still run by Lambeth Council. The building has a number of uses: classes, private parties, events, art exhibitions, an enterprise centre with desks for hire and use by a charity. A café, to be run by a charity is in the planning stages. The trust currently has a licence from Lambeth. Eventually a long lease will be granted and the building, which will be financially independent will be owned and run by the community.
