Yannick & Age UK Lambeth
For the past 70 years, Age UK Lambeth has been supporting older people across the entire borough of Lambeth. They run a number of activities and services including offering information & advice, social prescribing, and sharing learning opportunities to help older people live full, enjoyable and active lives.
“It was a very rewarding experience - working on a project with such a clear and valuable goal - helping reduce isolation of the elderly over the Xmas period”
Age UK Lambeth needed to successfully market and promote their Christmas Campaign, which pays for isolated older people to have dinner with the team on Christmas day. The team identified that support was needed in the key areas of press releases, social media planning, and vitally, researching new places where the organisation can promote.
After contacting Link UP, Age UK Lambeth were introduced to Yannick who, although not having direct experience in fundraising, brought her relationship building skills to the table in order raise awareness of Age UK Lambeth’s Christmas Campaign and drive funds into the organisation. This included; reaching out by email to list of churches and schools, door to door canvassing of local shops/businesses in Clapham Common and Brixton and raising awareness via social media.
Originally having a fundraising target of £3,500, the campaign went on to exceed this. The money raised from this project paid for the Christmas dinners provided on Christmas Day and the leftover money is being used to provide events in the New Year.
“Having Yannick to help with this project made the world of difference as we were able to achieve so much more with her help. I definitely do not think we would have smashed our target if she hadn't been volunteering with us.”
